Love Crash Investigation

As the dawn’s gray light leached into the house, something awoke inside of me. I was neither here nor there, a prisoner of desire, struggling with the iron mask of caprice, quite content with the recapitulation of yesterday’s stories. Weak Lovetrucker, progeny of the transit lane, hell bound in a basket of woe attempted to open his eyes, glued shut with mud and gluttony.

That previous life of black and white comic fancy was colourised by a brush with death and anxiety. I woke in fear, then woke again to a scratchy voice calling from the past, telling me everything I didn’t need to know. Instantly I was a child, torn between pleasing all and consequently pleasing none.

And beyond this rhetoric lies the fabled land of Love with its parapets of pleasure and languorous summers of soft grass and whispering forests. If I could only wake up then this kingdom could be mine, rather than stumping along the beaten track. These words rise not above profound confusion nor give any real indication of life but it is there and so am I.
